Resilience is about how you recharge, not how you endure. – Shawn Achor

During this sweet Friday-Monday Memorial Day Weekend Yoga Retreat, we will reflect on both our true nature as humans, and get out of the bustle of our everyday lives to spend some time in the rhythm of mother earth. Expect alignment, laughter, and creative, strength-based yoga practices, myofascial release, “functional fitness”, all coupled with simple meditations, mudras and mantras.

Retreat price includes:

  • 6 extended yoga classes (which will include some myofascial release practice and functional fitness) (1.5-2 hours each) and meditation taught by Dr. Ariele Foster (physical therapist and interdisciplinary yoga teacher – E-RYT 500)
  • Lodging (fresh bed linens, quilts and towels provided). You will sleep on ultra comfortable European-style platform twin beds with high quality mattresses
  • Shared bathrooms

  • 2 hour Group hike, weather permitting

Therapeutic massage available by licensed massage therapist upon request for $75 (appointments made and charged separately, rates subject to change).

Memorial Day Weekend Yoga Retreat

A note on yoga levels and style, for those new to my (Ariele’s) classes. I’ve been teaching yoga since 2001, and am a doctor of physical therapy. This retreat has attracted beginners and advanced practitioners, teenagers and 60-plusers. Without question, I feel comfortable teaching in a way that creates safety and breakthroughs for all levels of practitioners. We are all participating to support one another. The classes will be a mix of challenging and therapeutic. You are always welcome to rest if you need, or to make requests! Check out my (mostly gentle) full length yoga classes on YouTube for a sampler.

Retreat FAQs:

– I don’t want to share a room, what do I do?
Register ASAP. There are only two Private Rooms, and they go fast every year. If you are open at all to sharing a room, retreaters tend to be quiet, and respectful, and it’s only 3 nights. There are white noise machines in each of the rooms.

– I’ve got food allergies and / or specific food needs. Will I be hungry?
Definitely not! You’ll be in heaven. Because all food is made on site and made specifically for our group, we can accommodate almost any needs (paleo / gluten or grain free / vegan, and more). Please be in touch with me directly if you have any questions. I’d be happy to have you participate in planning the meals.

– I’ll be flying in/I don’t have a car, so I’m not sure how I’d get to Western MD…
Every year I organize ride shares to the retreat from DC airports, and from where participants live.

– Can I bring my spouse / family to simply stay onsite with me?
Feel free to reach out and ask about your unique circumstances, but right now, this is only possible only if each person staying on site is registered for the retreat and paying for the full retreat. Note: all beds are twin beds, the private rooms are designed for 1 person.

– Can I stay off site but participate?
Yes. Sign up for the day pass, and just inquire about Friday night or Monday morning.

– I feel out of shape, will I be able to keep up?
Yes, you’ve got this. The retreat will include nurturing mobility, fascia release, walks and hikes (weather permitting) and some vigorous and gentle yoga. Participate as much or as little as you like, and cheer on those with a more vigorous approach than you. Start your summer with healthy movement.

This long weekend retreat (3 nights / 4 days) in Maryland is just 1.5 hours drive from DC. This year in addition to yoga, enjoy myofascial release, functional fitness, and meditative outdoor walks/hikes.

Early Bird discount on selected lodging options is available through March 15th!

May I be at peace.
May my heart remain open.
May I realize the beauty of my own true nature.
May I be healed.
May I be a source of healing for this world.

Make a sanctuary for your soul.
